Tierra del Fuego National Park excursion
Train to the “end of the world”
Wolf Island Navigation

Tierra del Fuego National Park
This is a half day excursion to the only National protected area of the Island. The park is located 12 kilometers to the west of Ushuaia city, near the international borderline with Chile. Inside the park you will appreciate the local flora composed of beech trees and different kinds of bushes and flowers. Fauna is represented by native and introduced animals, such as Fuegian reddish foxes, beavers, rabbits and many species of birds (more than 90). Ensenada Bay, Roca Lake and Lapataia Bay are the tourist attractions we visit, including some short walks near the lake, beaver dams, and Lapataia Bay at the end of the National Park we reach the end of the National Route Nº 3 (Panamerican Highway) located 3.063 kilometres far from Buenos Aires. After 4 hours of excursion we return to Ushuaia.

Train to the “end of the world”
The train begins its journey departing from the “End of the World” station, used by prisoners 100 years ago. It goes into the Cañadon del Toro. Crosses the River Pipo over the “Burned Bridge” where you can see the ruins of Old Wooden Bridge. Then it stops in "Cascada La Macarena" where the passenger will find a reconstruction of a typical settlement of one of the Indian tribes that inhabited these lands for hundreds of years: The Yamanas. The train enters the park Tierra del Fuego. Snaking the Pipo River, the train continues across sectors showing the footprint left by the prisoners in their daily routine of cutting the trees, for almost half a century of uninterrupted work. After skirting the Turbal, soil characteristic of Tierra del Fuego where a moss called Sphagnum grows, the train arrived to the station.

“Perito Moreno” Glacier excursion with Lake Safari

This excursion starts from the city in the morning and we drive about 80km to the Perito Moreno Glacier walkways inside Los Glaciares National Park. During the trip, the guide will explain the characteristics of the region, flora, fauna, geology, glaciers studies, all within a winter context which is worth of admiration. We will make photo stops. When we arrive to the walkways, and after giving you the instructions to use the walkways, you will be able to walk along their 5 km of balconies and different views of the Glacier. During the winter months, glaciers show their most hypnotic side. A stunning blue and white, very different from the summertime postcard which is worth daring to admire. We advise to take warm clothes, comfortable shoes since there are different flights of stairs along the walkways. Please note that this excursion cannot be done together with the mini-trekking.

Lake Safari (Safari Nautico) It is a boat trip along the Rico branch, we reach the southern end of the Canal de Los Témpanos (Ice Floe Channel), we will watch the floating ice sheets coming off the Perito Moreno Glacier. We advise you to take this excursion together with Perito Moreno Glacier excursion. Please bear in mind that the approach to the glacier will depend on the captain´s assessment of the weather and lake conditions. It will always be a safe distance. The max capacity of the Catamaran is 110 passengers (if it is not raining) and 80 passengers (if raining). Free of charge passengers may be requested at Hielo y Aventura´s office. This cannot be requested on port. The trip duration is 1 hour and it departs from Puerto Bajo las Sombras (7km before the walkways). Departures are on daily basis.

Ice Rivers Excursion

Amazing navigation to the heart of continental ice cap, suitable for all ages. The tour begins at your hotel when we pick up to take you to the pier of Punta Banderas (47 km from El Calafate) where we boarded on modern ships and began to sail the northern arm of Lake Argentino towards the icebergs channel, where we will see huge icebergs arising from the ice cap. We continued sailing toward the Upsala Glacier, one of the biggest glaciers of continental ice cap. After this we visit the great Spegazzini glacier, perhaps the most beautiful and then we return to the Iceberg channel towards Punta Banderas. The extraordinary facts of nature that have produced multiple icebergs landslides in various parts of the journeys made by grant, which form a striking and one great barrier of ice, it is reported that income and / or approach and / or landings at points of the trip are conditioned by the changing conditions of navigation, which will evaluated for security reasons in each case, the skipper of each yacht.
